Ioanna Paraskevopoulou

Ioanna Paraskevopoulou is a dancer and choreographer based in Athens. She graduated from the Greek National School of Dance and is currently studying at the Department of Audiovisual Arts (Ionian University). Her artistic practice focuses on the relationship between audiovisual media and movement, reconfiguring the expansion of the choreographic field. She has collaborated, among others, with Iris Karayan, Christos Papadopoulos, Dimitris Papaioannou, Alexandra Waierstall, Ermira Goro, Lenio Kaklea, Katerina S. Andreou, Tzeni Argyriou, Patricia Apergi, Sofia Mavragani,, Antonis Foniadakis, Brendan Fernandes, Harry Koushos, Ki omOs kineitai, Maria Koliopoulou. In 2019-2020, she was awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS. She created her choreographic video project “All She Likes Is Popping Bubble Wrap” as part of Onassis New Choreographers Festival 8. ALSIPBW was officially selected by several video art festivals and has been awarded the Best Sound Design Award at the FIVideodanza Festival, Mexico and the Best Video Art Award at the MIFVIF, Venezuela. She co-created the video dance “Battle of Fishes” (Best Cinematography – InShadow Screen Dance Festival)  in the context of Miniatures For Revolution – GNO Learning & Participation Department. She presented “MOS” at Onassis New Choreographers Festival 9, which had its European premiere at the Julidans NEXT (NL). In addition, she presented the 10-minute piece “Coconut Effect” at the 7th edition of Danse Élargie competition with which she won the Young Jury Award. The award was to restage the project with the students of the Conservatoire de Paris. “Coconut Effect (group version)” premiered on September 2023 at Théâtre des Abbesses. Having been part of Aerowaves with selected works by Iris Karayan (“Mothers” and “Unauthorised”) and Christos Papadopoulos (“Elvedon” and “Opus”), her piece “MOS” was selected to be one of  Aerowaves’ Twenty23 works. She recently presented her personal solo “All of My Love”,  which premiered at Onassis Dance Days 2024 and co-created the project “Telos” with Maria Hassabi, Hannes Langolf and Ermira Goro. She is currently touring both “MOS” and “All of My Love” across Europe, while she is preparing her new project “Unseen Horses”, a collaboration with the Dance Theatre Heidelberg.

Η Ιωάννα Παρασκευοπούλου είναι χορεύτρια και χορογράφος με έδρα της την Αθήνα. Αποφοίτησε από την Κρατική Σχολή Ορχηστικής Τέχνης. Σπουδάζει στο Τμήμα Τεχνών Ήχου & Εικόνας του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου. Η καλλιτεχνική της πρακτική επικεντρώνεται στη σχέση μεταξύ οπτικοακουστικών μέσων και κίνησης. Ως χορεύτρια έχει συνεργαστεί — μεταξύ άλλων — με τους Ίριδα Κάραγιαν, Χρήστο Παπαδόπουλο, Δημήτρη Παπαϊωάννου, Alexandra Waierstall, Ερμίρα Γκόρο, Λενιώ Κακλέα, Κατερίνα Ανδρέου, Τζένη Αργυρίου, Πατρίσια Απέργη, Σοφία Μαυραγάνη,, Αντώνη Φωνιαδάκη, Brendan Fernandes, Χάρη Κούσιο, Κι όμΩς κινείται, και Μαρία Κολιοπούλου. Έχει βραβευτεί από το Πρόγραμμα Υποστήριξης Καλλιτεχνών Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος - ARTWORKS (2019). Ως χορογράφος ξεκίνησε παρουσιάζοντας το βίντεο All She Likes Is Popping Bubble Wrap στο πλαίσιο του Onassis New Choreographers Festival 8. Το συγκεκριμένο έργο έχει τιμηθεί με το βραβείο Best Sound Design στο FIVideodanza και με το βραβείο Best Video Art στο MIFVIF. Η Παρασκευοπούλου συνδημιούργησε το video project Battle of Fishes στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Miniatures for Revolution - GNO, το οποίο τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Best Cinematography. Χορογράφησε το ντουέτο MOS στο πλαίσιο του Onassis New Choreographers Festival 9, το οποίο στη συνέχεια επιλέχθηκε από το ευρωπαϊκό δίκτυο Aerowaves Twenty23 και περιόδευσε σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ σε Ελλάδα και εξωτερικό. Επίσης, παρουσίασε τη 10λεπτη performance Coconut Effect στο διαγωνισμό Danse Élargie 2022, με την οποία τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Young Jury Award. Πρόσφατα παρουσίασε το νέο της έργο All of My Love στο πλαίσιο του Onassis Dance Days 2024 και συνδημιούργησε το έργο Τέλος με τους χορογράφους Maria Hassabi, Hannes Langolf, Ερμίρα Γκόρο. Την περίοδο αυτή, συνεχίζει να περιοδεύει με τα έργα της MOS και All of My Love, ενώ παράλληλα προετοιμάζει τη νέα της δουλειά με τίτλο ‘Unseen Horses’, μια συνεργασία της με το Dance Theatre Heidelberg.
